How we make them

All Flutepac containers and trays are made exclusively in the UK, from biodegradable, compostable and totally sustainable corrugated cardboard! Our facility is home to best-in-class machinery, and our team of qualified designers and machinery operators ensure that your packaging is totally fit for purpose.

Thanks to some pretty neat coating techniques, we can apply water resistant, grease resistant and moisture barriers to the Flutepac product range. In addition to that, we can add windows, meaning you can see the product inside easily. We also make heat-resistant Flutepac trays that can go into the oven!

And Importantly...

All the paper we use to make the cardboard is sourced from FSC Certified paper mills.

This means that you can rest easy, knowing that every single fibre used has full traceability and thanks to the work done by the Forestry Stewardship Council, this certification verifies the path of products from the forest through the supply chain to the finished paper goods. Excellent!

Forest Stewardship Council

The Cepac group were the first packaging plant to be certified to FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) standard. Flutepac continue with this association, offering a range of accredited papers for your products.

About FSC

The Forest Stewardship Council is an international non-profit, multistakeholder organisation established in 1993 that promotes responsible management of the world's forests via timber certification.

FSC

Even though some of the papers we use in making the corrugated cardboard are recycled papers, some of the papers are what we call virgin fibre, meaning they are made from softwood trees. All the trees used in the paper-making process come from forests that are managed and follow FSC Chain of Custody practices.

What is corrugated cardboard

Corrugated board was originally invented over 100 years ago! To this day, the principle is the same - we take three pieces of paper and bond them together using glue and heat. There is a base layer, the fluting (the wavy bit in the middle) and an outer layer; the resulting cardboard is strong, yet light and ensures the ultimate protection of the goods inside. We make the corrugated cardboard in our own factories here in the UK, and we then cut the sheets of board into the shapes needed to make your Flutepac trays and containers.
